To accommodate the individual needs of our clients, SAL’s in-house engineering/project division offers custom-made solutions for (offshore) oil and gas projects including:

  • Complete analysis of HLV load-out, transportation and mooring operations
  • Analysis of offshore operational requirements
  • Planning of load-outs, lift-offs, upending of jackets and positioning with own cranes
  • Cribbing and lashing designs
  • Calculation of wave loads and motion analysis
  • Mooring analysis and calculations of anchor designs on field
  • Structural design verifications for sea transport with own HLV
  • Analysis of mating activities and load transfers
  • Preparation of subsea lift-offs and subsea handshakes with construction vessels or ROVs (Remote Operated Vessels)

Further technological innovations include the development of specialized software which allows to calculate rigid body ship motions, acceleration levels throughout the vessel, generic inertial loads on cargo modules and - very important - cargo securing loads. This software combined with on board available wave data will benefit the offshore industry by maximizing the vessels’ operability and reliability. To further develop this software a six months monitoring campaign has started on board the vessels which are provided with MRUs (Motion Response Units) to receive the necessary acceleration data.

Also, the technical engineering division is further developing mechanisms that allow the vessels to conduct offshore lifts and offshore field location. As a particular innovation, subsea liftoffs and subsea handshakes with construction vessels or ROVs (Remote Operated Vessel) are in the planning process. Finally, the engineering division is in the process of designing and engineering a skidding system that is workable onboard the vessels.
